March PS FO

I am happy to say that my March Project Spectrum is complete. And I love how it goes with my purple coat! (Also, I need to say thank you to Libby for her guidance on this scarf)

The other night, a friend was over for dinner ... he shall remain nameless since this story could cause him embarassment. I showed him my new scarf and he said that it was not practical. I showed him how nicely it matched my purple coat. He still didn't get it! I told him that he didn't know the half of it. And since he currently has a broken arm and is somewhat helpless, I decided to pull out every scarf I could find and wrap it around him or lay it across him. This picture actually doesn't do it justice, because so many are buried underneath the top layer. As you can see, he is mouthing off even as I take the picture. (sigh)

My next knitting project is on the needles. I am working on my first baby sweater! Using the Rowan green & yellow yarn that I bought a few weeks ago. The pattern is from Debbie Bliss' Baby Knits for Beginners. It is a cute little v-neck cardigan! I will post progress pictures soon.

My So Called Scarf is so cute! The pattern was a bit confusing at first, but once I took a moment to read the pattern carefully I figured it out. I would say that I am at the halfway point. I am eager to finish it so that I can wear it while it is still chilly. : )

My So Called Project Spectrum

Look what I did on Friday? I visited The Knitting Room in Birmingham. I have been trying to go to this place for a while, but I always seemed to get there right when they were closing up shop.

I found my Project Spectrum inspiration! The Marl La yarn was calling my name!! It is green and lavender, but it is also 2 shades of pink! My plan is to make a variation of the "My So Called Scarf." This yarn is so thick (4 strands held together) - so I don't need to cast on quite as many stitches. Finding this yarn made me so happy! Very pretty & springy! I also found some cute Rowan yarn for a baby sweater that I plan on making in the near future.

Mel & I went to the Detroit Kennel Club Dog Show today for some good people watching (think live-action "Best in Show") and some cute puppies. I need to get a Norwich Terrier ... so cute! But check out this crazy dog stand I saw someone using!!

Pink & Red

So, I have joined Project Spectrum. And ever since, I have been stressing out a little. What am I going to make that is pink or red? I don't know and the month is half over. Plus, I am working on that darn scarf.

Ruffle me up

I was going to make extensive comments about the Project Runway finale, but I don't need to. Why? Because someone else has already said EXACTLY what I was thinking in their blog. Why reinvent the wheel? Read it here!

The Ruffles scarf is coming along. The pattern is easy to memorize, and it pretty darn cool how it turns into a rotini pasta shape!

What do you think about the way that the ruffles are falling together? No one else's seems to turn out that way. I don't know if I should have used a smaller needle or what the deal is!? I like it ... but I am perplexed!

Did you know that Dr. Seuss would have celebrated his 102nd birthday this year? Last night, I went to the Southfield Public Library for the opening of the Art of Dr. Seuss exhibit. It was really cool! The curator spoke about Seuss' early artwork from his advertising industry days and compared it to his children's book illustrations. Check out this super cool painting! I could easily be persuaded to spend $3000 for some Dr. Seuss artwork for my home. He was so damn cool!

Admittedly, I did not see very many of the Oscar nominated films this year. However, I am excited to sit down tonight and watch the Academy Awards in their entirety, as I do every year. So, here are my (somewhat uneducated) picks:

What were you doing 9 years ago?
In 1997, I was doing my full year of Student Teaching in a 1st grade classroom. I was living at home, since I had no income. I was single and spending most of my free time and weekends swing dancing and drinking martinis at the Velvet Lounge with Stacie. (Good times!)

What were you doing 6 years ago?
I was working at a title insurance company. My boss was a complete jackass and I was miserable professionally. Pat & I had been dating for about 8 months (we met at the title company). Mel & I were living together in an apartment. And both of my grandmothers passed away within a few months of each other. : (

What were you doing one hour ago?
Doing a load of laundry ...

Name 3 movies/tv programs you can’t turn off if you stumble across them on television.
Sixteen Candles - I will watch it every single time. So, so funny.
Desk Set - a great movie starring Katharine Hepburn as a Reference Librarian. I don't think I have ever seen the whole thing in one sitting, but I love it.
Project Runway - I "heart" this show. I watch it at its regularly scheduled time. But I will also watch the exact same episode if I stumble across it later in the week. Pathetic!
