Detroit Stitch & Pitch 2008

Mel, Tracy, Matt & I headed down to the ballpark with plenty of time to pick up our goodie bags. A woman asked us where we got the bags, so we pointed her in the right direction, to which her husband told Matt that it was "girl stuff" and then Matt proudly showed off his goodie bag to the guy. I love my knitting hubby!

men like knitting goodie bags too!

It was a cold and blustery August day in the D! Such bizarre weather for August ... we were honestly freezing! I had goosebumps on my legs for the entirety of the game - the woman next to me admired them and then passed it down the row to check them out. Despite the weather, it was still a lot of fun ...

My goodie bag had 14 skeins of yarn, a stitch marker, a pair of bamboo needles & a ton of 20% off coupons to various LYSs. Woah! I wasn't expecting that at all. I should have taken a picture of all of our loot.

Tracy worked on socks - super cute yarn! Mel enjoyed her complimentary Freep. Matt worked on a Baby Bib o' Love. I did complete a few more rows on the slowly, but surely blue, green & yellow Ballband Bib. As Tracy noted on her blog, these bibs are for other people's babies! For reals.

bibs! for other people's babies!

You can't tell ... but I am sporing my Ravelry tee for the occassion. But alas, it was too cold to show it off!

I will say that the seat selection for this year's Stitch & Pitch was less than ideal. The seats seemed to go across the back 2 or 3 rows of the stadium, across 4 sections (maybe). I just felt like there was less of a presence of knitters than there was last year - when all the seats seemed to be located in one section. I am sure that it was because that was all that was available. I am not complaining ... I just hope that we can all sit together in one section next year. And we missed Holly. Next year, we will get our tickets earlier!!!

After the game we went to Xochi's for some delicious Mexican food! Yum! And then we headed to the old Tiger Stadium to witness the sadness ...

3 things I am loving right now ....

We have such wonderful and generous family & friends. We were spoiled & received so many fantastic wedding & shower presents. Two of them are making my current list of favorite things!

Last night, I used our new tomato knife and it is AMAZING! Honestly, it cuts tomatoes with such ease and you can slice them super thin! I kind of sound like an infomercial, but it is the best. Love it!!

We also got a Wii for our wedding! How awesome is that? We decided to wait until we finished our thank you notes before we set it up ( as motivation, you know?). We are having a blast with it! And I bought Rockband for Matt for his birthday, which is too fun!

And the third thing that I am loving right now is Stitch & Pitch. Tracy, Mel, Matt & I are lined to head to see the Tigs this Sunday at the ballpark. Totally looking forward to it. Last year, Matt & I were at the Stitch & Pitch game, but not with the Stitch & Pitch group. Should be a blast! I will hopefully take lots of pictures. : )
